Jewish Indexes
11/23/2009
A new index to all Jewish items in the world's largest genealogy collection may reveal books, articles and records you weren't aware of.

If you thought you'd found every Jewish resource there is in the Family History Library, think again. A new index to all Jewish items in the world's largest genealogy collection may reveal books, articles and records you weren't aware of. You can search the index online at <www.jewishgen.org/databases/fhlc>.

Also, five major records indexes were just added to a surname database from Jewish genealogy publisher Avotaynu. The Consolidated Jewish Surname Index now searches 31 sources, including databases from Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Latvia and the Jewish-Gen Family Finder. That's 2 million-plus records and 370,000 unique surnames to search in one place: <www.avotaynu.com/csi/csi-home.html>. Browse the database for spelling variations and use it to track down records from a variety of sources.
