The concept of a family tree goes beyond just tracking Great-great-grandpa. Here are a few online places you can peruse a people-free pedigree (you may need to click some charts to enlarge them).

Got a mutt? Find out Fido’s ancestry through DNA testing companies such as Canine Heritage and DDC Veterinary Animal DNA Testing.
A horse is a horse, of course, but who sired him? Type his name into the Thoroughbred Pedigree Database.
Trace the twists of many tongues in the Indo-European Languages Family Tree.
Step into the histories of houses around the world at History of Homes.
