History and ethnic heritage come alive at festivals, museums across the country. Plan a trip into the past with sampling of 115 living history events and re-enactments and special our state-by-state destinations.

Fair weather and spring fever may bring thoughts of pausing your family history research and taking, that well-deserved vacation. But what if your destination happened to include a Civil War re-enactment or a heritage parade? Every state has fun, educational living history events where you can temporarily leave behind squinting at microfilm or genealogy Web sites and step back into the past as your ancestors lived it.
Here we sample 115 of the best history and heritage-flavored events and destinations across the United States and Canada through the end of the year.
