Elemental Institutions: Genealogical Organizations
9/1/2005
Facilitate your research with our state-by-state directory of US libraries, archives and societies.

Whether you're a family history newbie or a seasoned genealogist, you'll need to get "organized" — that is, tap into the resources of research organizations. We've compiled this state-by-state directory of libraries, archives and societies to speed your search for helpful institutions. The listings also point you to the statewide genealogical and historical societies you can call on for assistance.

Use this directory as a starting point to explore your state's family history treasures. And remember: Before you trek to an organization's offices, call or visit its Web site to learn about available records, hours of operation and any nonresident fees.
