Ancestry Insider
Also one of our Family Tree 40 top genealogy blogs, this site gives you the scoop on not only Ancestry.com, but also genealogy giant FamilySearch; the anonymous blogger has worked at both. Check here first to get the most out of what’s new at these essential sites.

Eastman’s Online Genealogy Newsletter
Another of our favorite blogs, this newsy site by genealogy-technology veteran Dick Eastman also covers topics such as book reviews, “What is the Cloud and Why Should I Care?” and “How to Achieve Virtual Immortality.” An annual $19.95 gets you the Plus edition with no ads and extra content.

Facebook
In addition to the genealogy apps for Facebook, a who’s who of archives, genealogy and historical societies, libraries, sites and software makers have their own pages. These include Ancestry.com, FamilySearch, GenealogyBank, MyHeritage, National Genealogical Society, New England Historic Genealogical Society, RootsMagic, Legacy Family Tree and of course Family Tree Magazine.

Genealogy Gems
Lisa Louise Cooke’s “Online Family History Radio Show” now offers more than 160 free podcasts plus videos, on topics ranging from Google Earth to Chinese genealogy. Members who pay $29.95 a year enjoy extra material.

Genealogy Guys
This site from George G. Morgan and Drew Smith, the “longest-running, regularly produced genealogy podcast in the world,” is worth a look for written news and highlights even if you don’t listen. But you should: Their catalog of podcasts now numbers more than 250 programs.
