MyFamily.com launches Ancestry.ca.
MyFamily.com, parent company of subscription genealogy sites Ancestry.com
and Genealogy.com, launched a Canadian database service with records containing more than 150 million names.
Ancestry.ca <ancestry.ca> also offers the Web's only complete index to the 1911 Canadian census, released last summer. Your search results link to the record images on the Library and Archives Canada Web site, but you look at them in Ancestry.ca's image viewer. (You can browse the census images free at <www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/0201_e.html>; unless you have a good idea of your ancestor's residence, though, that can take quite awhile. Or, if you're lucky, a volunteer for Automated Genealogy's <automatedgenealogy.com> free indexing project has already recorded your family.)
