Memory Tip-Off
5/1/2004
Readers share their best tips for creating and preserving heritage albums.
There are as many ways to share memories as there are people to share them with. When we announced our Preserve Your Family History heritage-album tip contest on FamilyTreeMagazine.com, more than a hundred of you sent advice for preserving family memories in a scrapbook. We pored over the tips, debated their merits, consulted with contributing editor and preservation expert Maureen A. Taylor, then thought about it some more — and finally selected 21 winning ideas. Get out your photos, documents and scrapping supplies, then get inspired to start saving your memories!

Using a soft, photo-safe pencil, I write on the bottom back of each photo the mother and father of the person pictured. This helps if several people in your family have the same name, and the only way to tell who's who at a quick glance is to know their parents' names.
