Untangling Foreign Tongues

Is some crucial clue about your ancestors Greek to you because you don't understand the language? Don't let your family history get lost in translation - here's how to break through the language barrier.
Here's the dilemma: Countless treasures from your family's past were probably recorded in a language that you and your family don't speak anymore. Maybe it's your great-grandfather's old letters, written in Portuguese. Or those photo captions that you'd love to read — but they're all in Dutch! Or key documents in the Italian archives — if only you could speak the language.

If you're like so many genealogy buffs, language barriers prevent you from learning everything you can about your family's past. Unfortunately, most of us shy away from foreign-language resources.
