5 Websites You May Want to Access Before Possible Government Shutdown

Planning to do some genealogy research on Census.gov or the Library of Congress website? You might want to hurry. Here are some important sites that could temporarily shut down along with the government.

The last time the US government shutdown, many of their agency’s websites did the same. If you’re planning to access any of these sites for your research in the near future, you may want to do so prior to this week’s vote:

Census.gov

Library of Congress

National Archives

Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation, Inc.

US Dept. of Veterans Affairs

If we do lose access to these websites for a few days, or even weeks, fear not! There are plenty of other resources online. Check out our Best Genealogy Websites page for a full list of all of our favorite resources, which you can filter by category.
