  1. It was interesting to take the inauguration quiz, but I found an oversight. A city is missing from the list of where inaugurations were held. We Upstate New Yorkers were proud to have Teddy Roosevelt as our governor before he went to Washington. Historical markers remind us of his treacherous and perilous hurried ride from the Adirondacks upon McKinley’s assassination. His presidency began with a swearing in at Buffalo.

  2. Thank you!! Teddy Roosevelt’s inauguration wasn’t listed on the inaugural committee Web site that was our source (just goes to show about confirming information in multiple sources).

Readers can learn more about Teddy Roosevelt’s inaugural site at http://www.nps.gov/thri/ .

Upon further investigation, I’ve also found Chester A. Arthur was sworn in in New York City after the assassination of his predecessor James A. Garfield, and Calvin Coolidge took the oath of office in Plymouth, Vt., after Warren G. Harding died in office of a heart attack. Both were re-sworn in DC.
