I wish I had time to thoroughly examine all the cool sites I come across every day (or maybe I should say, I wish I were more resistant to the temptation to surf).
So instead of bookmarking and then forgetting about todays finds (and later on, wondering why my Favorites list is so darn long), Ill share a few:
- Ohio’s Heritage Northeast: digital collections from universities, colleges, and public libraries inguess whereNortheast Ohio. I found a photo of Bolivar Road in Cleveland, which is the street where I believe my ancestors lived in 1917.
- Lower East Side Tenement Museum: The museum has been around for a few years, but I just took the virtual tour of a few of the preserved apartments. An encyclopedia focuses on the neighborhoods historical residents, with terms such as Landsmanschaftn (associations of Eastern European Jewish immigrants from the same hometown).
- Growth of a Nation: This 10-minute animated movie, complete with a voice-over reminiscent of my 7th-grade history teacher, nicely sums up the United States progress from 13 Colonies to a country with 50 states.
Now, to go clean out some of those Favorites …
