DNA Day 2019 Discounts

Genealogists, circle your calendars! DNA Day 2019 is April 25. See what DNA discounts you can take advantage of this week.

DNA Day 2019 offers several great genetic genealogy deals.

Each year on April 25, genetic genealogists celebrate DNA Day, which commemorates the discovery of DNA’s double-helix structure in April 1953 and the completion of the Human Genome Project in April 2003. To join in on the fun, we’re offering 40 percent off all our genetic genealogy resources this week.

But we’re not the only ones! Several testing companies are offering discounts on their DNA tests and services. Read on to discover each of the top companies’ deals for DNA Day 2019:

23andMe

23andMe, best known for providing test takers with health-related info, is offering a $30-discount on its Health+Ancestry test. More comprehensive than the company’s base-line test kit, the Health+Ancestry test provides more than 125 reports on genetically linked health conditions. You can access the special pricing through May 13 (the day after Mother’s Day).

AncestryDNA

You can purchase AncestryDNA’s kit for $69 (normal retail price: $99) through April 25. The site now boasts more than 10 million test takers in its database, giving you the industry’s largest pool of potential genetic cousins. When combined with a paid Ancestry.com subscription, testing with AncestryDNA also gives you access to the company’s massive network of user-submitted family trees. Learn more about the pros and cons of AncestryDNA’s test.

Family Tree DNA

Family Tree DNA distinguishes itself as the only major testing company to offer atDNA, mtDNA and Y-DNA testing. And this week, all three kinds of tests are on sale. Through April 25, you can get:

  • the Family Finder (atDNA) test for $49 (regular price: $79)
  • the mtDNA test for $149 (regular price: $199)
  • the baseline Y-DNA test for $129 (regular price: $169)

Family Tree DNA is also discounting its more-detailed Y-DNA tests. For example, you can get the massive Big Y-700 test for $449 (regular price: $649).

Living DNA

Those with British heritage will want to pay special attention to Living DNA’s special offer this week. Its 3-1 Ancestry Test costs just $59 (regular price: $99). Living DNA’s ethnicity estimates stand out for their detailed information about the test taker’s roots in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Unlike the other companies here, LivingDNA doesn’t currently offer DNA matching; its “Family Networks” feature is still in beta. But its test does offer information about your mtDNA and Y-DNA, in addition to your atDNA.

MyHeritage DNA

DNA expert Shannon Combs-Bennett says her favorite feature of MyHeritage DNA’s test is that you can view all your results on one page. And like AncestryDNA, MyHeritage DNA allows you to integrate your DNA results with your family tree on the website. MyHeritage DNA is offering its atDNA test for $59 (regular price: $79). The sale ends on the evening of April 28.
