The Best Reason to Attend the Spring Virtual Conference (Plus 3 More)

Thinking of signing up for the Spring Virtual Conference? Find out the top benefit Family Tree Publisher Allison Dolan says you won’t want to miss.

As a working mom of little kids (whose free time is consequently at a premium), I love finding opportunities to combine activities I enjoy into my daily schedule of changing diapers, playing ball toss and—of course—running the nation’s largest family history magazine.

One of my philosophies for product development is to create products I would love to use myself. So I definitely had my own situation in mind when we developed Family Tree University’s Virtual Conferences back in 2011. Lucky for me, I get to travel to genealogy conferences because it’s my job — conference trips wouldn’t be in the cards for me otherwise. We knew that physical and budget limitations kept other genealogy buffs away from in-person events.

Seven years later, I’m proud to be gearing up for the Spring 2018 Virtual Conference—our 14th such event. I still look forward to each conference, and not just because of all the great classes I can watch from the comfort of home. Most enjoyable—and beneficial—to me is the interaction with other attendees. You might not expect such a collaborative, networking-rich experience from an online conference, but FTU’s Virtual Conferences have it in spades! Over the three days, you develop valuable research skills and friendships.

Especially for those who can’t attend in-person genealogy events, Virtual Conferences offer an opportunity to enjoy the same benefits and more:

Make your own schedule.

You can watch the pre-recorded sessions at any time and in any order you like, plus download the videos and slides for future reference. View the full lineup of sessions (scroll down to the Virtual Conference Lineup section).

Log in anytime, anywhere.

I love that I can network with like-minded folks from my couch while supervising my young genealogy assistants (aka sons).

Tap the brain power of our experts and fellow attendees.

You can pose your research questions on the message boards and in live chats. I always walk away with new resources and ideas to apply to my brick walls.

Please join me in kicking off your spring research season with a hearty dose of genealogy education and fun! The Spring 2018 Virtual Conference takes place April 4-6. Sign up now before the $40 early bird discount disappears.

See you there!

    • Hi Dave! I’m sorry the location wasn’t clear. As stated in the blog post, this is a virtual conference that takes place online via FamilyTreeMagazine.com. To sign up, you would follow the links in the post to purchase page in the Family Tree Shop. After purchasing, to participate in the conference, you would log in to your Shop account anytime April 6-8, and go to the My Courses section, where you will see the Virtual Conference listed — just use that link to access the conference.
