I found my great-grandfather’s WWII draft registration card, which he signed April 26, 1942, when he was 61 years old. This “old man’s registration” called on men born from April 28, 1877, to Feb. 16, 1897. It’s the only WWII draft registration available to the public.

Now if only I could find a WWI draft registration card for him, which would fill in a big genealogical gap…

  2. You are so sweet to look all this up! I would have responded to your first post by saying I’ve searched (we have an account) and been unable to find someone I’m sure is him. I’ve done enough research to tell that the people you’ve posted information on aren’t him (I’ve come across some of them on similar searches).

But, thank you again–genealogy is full of generous people (and, you have the distinction of being our first blog poster).

  3. Dear Claudia,

You are amazing! What a wonderful thing to do. Be careful: there may follow a deluge of requests. (even from me)

To quote Diane Haddad, "genealogy is full of generous people." I find the most generous ones I know are involved in family research.

In keeping with that, I’ve put several genealogy goodies on my site:, which are all FREE, by the way. Look and learn.

    Happy Dae.

  4. Hi, Bob,
If you go to, there’s a box on the right that says "Find your family’s heroes in our military collection. Free through D-Day." Clicking there should take you to the search page. I’ll edit my post to link there. Best of luck!
