AncestorNews: Bookmark These Sites
I don’t know about you, but I forever need quick bits of information, such as a statehood date or where to write for Dad’s death certificate. To help me get information fast, I got organized and made a separate folder in the Favorites or Bookmark section of my browser. Titled “Quick Facts,” the folder contains all the Web-site addresses for those moments when I need a quick lookup.
If you haven’t played with the Favorites or Bookmark feature of your browser, you’re missing out on a major online organizational tool. If you use Netscape, follow the directions at wp.netscape.com/browsers/using/newusers/basics/orgmarks.html for setting up Bookmarks; if Internet Explorer is your preferred browser, read the tips at www.microsoft.com/education/?ID=OrganizeFavorites. The ability to mark a favorite site and then return to it later will save you an incredible amount of time in searching for it time and again.
Here are some sites found in my Quick Facts folder:
• US States Fast Facts and Trivia
• Vital Records Information, United States
• Inflation Calculator (1800-2001)
• Birth Date Calculator
