You'll love this eBook if:

  • You want to drill down and use the Web's best German genealogy websites to find your ancestors
  • You're overwhelmed by the vast and ever-changing Ancestry.com
  • You want to know how German genealogists can take advantage of the number-one genealogy website

Ask most genealogists what the most useful genealogy website is, and they're almost certain to say Ancestry.com. The Internet's largest genealogy website keeps expanding, offering its subscribers new features (such as AncestryDNA and AncestryAcademy) and millions of new genealogy records each year. German genealogists, especially, can benefit from many of Ancestry.com's resources, and this e-book outlines them all. Whether you're just starting your first Ancestry.com search or you've been looking for German ancestors on the site for years, this guide will walk you through which databases are the most valuable and how to have research success on Ancestry.com.

What's Inside

The German Genealogist's Guide to Ancestry.com eBook features:

  • Information about the most important German resources on Ancestry.com, including those that are free and those that are only available to paying subscribers
  • Step-by-step guides to crucial databases: Meyer's Gazetteer and the Hamburg Embarkation Lists
  • Tips and strategies for using Ancestry.com's many features (such as the Card Catalog and other users' family trees) in German genealogy research

Excerpt: Sample Tips

Here are some tips you'll find in the German Genealogist's Guide to Ancestry.com eBook:

  • Manually browse Ancestry.com's records even if they've been indexed. Indices can contain spelling or transcription errors that might exclude records from keyword search results. Consider manually paging through collections from relevant times and places to avoid missing your ancestors due to these mistakes.
  • Check for free records first. While Ancestry.com has many unique resources, some of its collections are available for free on other sites that may not charge subscription fees. Before you commit to a paid Ancestry.com subscription (or to the more expensive World Explorer or All Access subscription tiers), learn what these plans offer and where you might be able to find those records elsewhere.

The German Genealogist's Guide to Ancestry.com eBook comes in PDF format and can be printed out or viewed on your tablet, laptop, or desktop computer for easy reference while working with your family memories.
