Week 2: Organize Your Research Strategy - Set Goals

This week, you’ll set yourself up for successful research by learning how to set smart, achievable goals and how to break them down into a research plan.

Week 3: Organize Your Research Process

This week, you’ll get some great time-saving search tools and strategies so that you get better results in half the time.

Week 4: Organize Your Results

It’s all too easy to lose track of what you’ve researched and what you haven’t. This week, you’ll learn how to build a research log you’ll actually use.

Week 5: Keep Your Research on Track

In the final days of the month, you’ll focus on how to stay on track by avoiding distractions and by turning what you’ve learned into strong organizational habits.

About Your Presenter

Gena Philibert-Ortega holds a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master’s degree in Religion. Presenting on various subjects involving genealogy, women’s studies and social history, Gena has spoken to groups throughout the United States and virtually to audiences worldwide. Gena is the author of hundreds of articles published in genealogy newsletters and magazines and of several books, Putting the Pieces Together and Cemeteries of the Eastern Sierra (Arcadia Publishing, 2007) as well as From the Family Kitchen (F + W Media, 2012). Her current research interests include social history, community cookbooks, signature quilts and researching women’s lives.

If you have purchased an on-demand courses or video you can access your product immediately by following the directions below.   9. Click on the teal button to the far right of the course title. It should either say Start Watching or Continue.

    *If there are course materials available, they will be found under the Menu tab at the top of the viewing window.

To Access Course Materials:

  1. Click on the Menu tab.
  2. Click on Resources.
  3. You will see the number of Files available for the course.
  4. Click Files.
  5. Click View/Download to the right of the file title to access it.
